The name "Chicago Jazz Quartet" may lack a certain air of originality, but it will convey an important message to the audience for which this group was formed. In September '04 we completed a Jazz Ambassador tour of East Asia. This trip lasted six weeks and take us to Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Phillipines, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The trip was sponsored by the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, under the auspices of the US State Department. Led by Actor / Bassist Gary Sinise and composer Kimo Williams, this group was formed in January of 2004 to go on a USO tour of Singapore, Korea, and Diego Garcia. Since then we've traveled around the U.S. and to many other countries, playing for the troops and club concerts. The band performs a great variety of music (mostly covers) ranging from country to rock to r&b / hip-hop. |

I joined this band in 2000 or so at the request of my good friend Joe Rendon, who plays congas in the group. It's a unique ensemble, with full percussion (Timbales, Drums, Congas), great lead singer, and Ricky Baker on Guitar. While the majority of the material covers both recent and vintage Santana, there are also a good number of afro-cuban latin rock originals. We perform mostly in the Chicago-area club / festival market. |

Mark is a very talented saxophonist and a gifted composer. I'm pleased to be included in his group. Bassist Jon Paul and drummer Tom Hipskind round out the rhythm section, and on trumpet is either Tito Carillo or Victor Garcia. |

The creation of my good friend and composer Kimo Williams, This 22 member ensemble is one of a kind. Symphonic Big-Band Jimi Hendrix Rock is the only way I can describe it. Featuring a great lineup of musicians (i.e. Chris Siebold, Tom Hipskind, Jim Odgren, Mitch Pilga & Larry Kohut), this band has tremendous power, both sonic and emotional. Drummer Vinnie Calieuta is also involved with the recordings, as well as the occasional performance. |

Joe is a great friend and musical collaborator of mine. I credit him with me knowing as much about latin music as I do. One of my favorite gigs is simply a duo with me splitting LH bass and RH piano with his congas. For me, combining th e harmonic complexities of jazz with the infectious rythms of salsa and other latin styles is the ultimate musical high. Joe often performs with a larger group, featuring bass, vocals, more percussion and a great latin jazz sound. |
